Château Montifaud, situated in Jarnac-Champagne, lies at the heart of the appellation and has gained a renowned reputation for over 150 years. This family-owned estate, spanning six generations, has been producing exceptional eaux-de-vie. With a sprawling property of 125 hectares, the vineyards are cultivated sustainably and are located in Petite and Grande Champagne. These appellations derive their names from the high presence of limestone in the soil, a characteristic that contributes to the development of delightful floral notes and the remarkable aging potential of the spirits in oak barrels. Laurent Vallet, representing the sixth generation, highlights the significance of this terroir.
Château Montifaud’s cellars now house remarkable cuvées crafted by the Vallet family, who oversee the entire production process from vine to bottle. The estate prides itself on its complete independence and has developed its unique methodology, enabling the creation of distinct Pineau varieties with the ultimate goal of continuously enhancing quality.
