TEQUILA

Don Fulano Tequila is the result of five generations of agave farmers and distillers from the Fonseca family, originating in Atotonilco, in the Highlands of Jalisco – a region renowned for some of Mexico’s finest tequilas. The story began over 140 years ago, when the family first cultivated agave for the early tequila producers in the area. Over time, they became one of the largest and most respected agave growers, and in the 1980s, following a major industry crisis, they acquired the historic La Tequileña Distillery (NOM 1146) in the town of Tequila. Here, Enrique Fonseca, both visionary and innovator, carried the tradition forward while incorporating European techniques of winemaking, distillation, and maturation, all while remaining faithful to the heart of tequila: the agave plant.

Today, Don Fulano is recognized worldwide as an artisanal, authentic, and sophisticated tequila, crafted exclusively from estate-grown agave and natural volcanic spring water, with no additives or artificial filtration. Production involves fermentations with and without bagasse, distillation in copper alembics as well as in an experimental copper Coffey still, ensuring both depth and elegance. Maturation takes place in French oak casks (Limousin and Nevers) previously used for wines from Burgundy, the Loire, and Bordeaux, bringing subtle layers of refinement. The Don Fulano portfolio includes all the essential expressions – Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Extra Añejo – each one reflecting the unique terroir of Jalisco and the dedication of a family that has elevated tequila into a world-class experience.
