For the last century, the Crommida family has intertwined the art and mysteries of creating traditional tsipouro using copper alembics with their family history. This captivating journey has enhanced numerous beautiful moments with the distinct and genuine flavor of tsipouro. In 1947, Charalampos Crommidas, also known as Kalaitzis due to his profession as a tinker, relocated his family from the Mourgana mountain range in Thesprotia to Vasiliki village near Trikala, Thessalia. In his new home, he gained a reputation for producing the finest tsipouro in the area, which became known as Kalaitzis’s tsipouro. Presently, Charalampos’ grandchildren, dedicated to the family legacy, possess the recipes and secrets of the alembic art. They continue to produce their grandfather’s renowned tsipouro using modern winemaking and distilling techniques while maintaining the same name, secrets, and ardor.
